|Easy Tip! Notifications in MapInfo Professional v12.0 |
| ||MapInfo Professional v12.0 has introduced a new facility for you to receive notifications from Pitney Bowes Software. This article provides information on how you can customise how you receive this information. |
Types of notifications
There are two types of notifications we will send out. One type are notices about maintenance releases. The other type is for news from Pitney Bowes Software.
Notifications will appear on the lower right side of your screen. Note that an Internet connection is required to receive notifications.
Controlling your notifications
Notifications are controlled through a preference. Look in the Options menu > Preferences > Notifications. You can set the time interval to check for notifications.
Notifications for maintenance patches
It is strongly recommended that you allow MapInfo Professional to notify you of new patch releases. As a general rule we only issue two or three each year. Please do keep in mind that it may not be appropriate for you to try and install a patch release yourself. This task may have to be done by your IT department.
News from PB
The notifications related to news from PB will be used for announcements such as white papers, conferences and events. Also, as it is your editor writing this piece I hope to find more subscribers for this journal by sending an announcement out!
Checking for notifications on an ad-hoc basis
The Help menu in MapInfo Professional v12.0 has a command Check for News Feed. You can use this to check for notifications when you wish to.
