The first tip we want to share is a link to a whole host of video tutorials. So don't think of it as just one tip but a link to a lot of help to learn how to use different aspects of MapInfo Professional.

Something a bit more advanced ... 
Finding objects close to other objects - using SQL capabilities 

For this tip we will show you how to use the SQL features in a similar way to how you use buffers. The example we will use is to find slurry tanks (waste storage) that are near streams. To understand this tip it is helpful if you are familiar with creating buffers in MI Pro.

As mentioned, one solution is to use the buffering capabilities, as depicted in the following screen shot.

In each issue we will briefly highlight one of the tools or utilities that can be found in the Tool Manager in MI Pro. To find the tool manager, in MI Prop click on Tools > Tool Manager
