Easy tip - Speed up your Layer Control work by turning redraws off and on
If you need to make multiple changes to the Layer Control settings within a map window you may cause the map to redraw multiple times. If your map is complicated, or getting its data from a slow source (such as a slow network or database connection) and the map redraws are taking time then this tip is for you!
The button you need to know is at the bottom of the Layer Control panel (see the screen shot below).
Map data is StreetPro Russia, ©2012 TomTom BV.
If you click this button, the impact is immediate and obvious. While the map redraws are suspended you can quickly make changes to the Layer Control settings of your map window.
When finished click the button again and the map will reappear.
EXTRA TIP: Check out these other Layer Control Options
While we are "in the neighbourhood" check out the button next to the Automatic Map Drawing button. This provides access to a few handy Layer Control options.
These options allow you to configure the behavior of Layer Control in various ways. Most of this is fairly self explanatory but there is a Help topic that covers this dialog box, if needed.
