Hello Everyone! With the help of some colleagues we have a great issue for you this month. But before I get to that I thought I would give a hint of what is to come in our next major release (MapInfo Pro v16.0, scheduled for September).
I’ll provide more of a preview in the issue next month but for now, one of the things we are hard at work on is improving the thematic mapping capabilities. We’ll start a beta test at the end of this month. If you are interested in participating, let me know. You can contact me through our LinkedIn Group (see the side bar).
Now, for this month we’re treating you to a selection of useful articles. Peter Moeller is back with an article that will extend your SQL knowledge into the arena of manipulating character strings. Sowande Snagg makes his journal debut with an article on adding North arrows to your maps. The v15.2.2 release added underview support to our raster capabilities. Mahima Relan provides an overview on how to make the most of this feature. There is also a new FAQ on the 64 bit version and another series of video tutorials for the 64 bit MapInfo Discover.
Finally, for those of you who are making the switch to the new 64 bit versions of MapInfo Pro (or if you are considering the change) you will now find a comprehensive list of resources to help you learn the new version. Click here or in the side bar (“Everything 64 bit”).
In reference to the title this month, the Journal now uses a responsive design and can be read on phones or tablets. The content adapts to your device. Try it out!
As always, thanks for reading this and thanks for being our customer!
Tom Probert, MapInfo Pro Global Product Manager
