MapInfo Pro™ Monthly Journal
March 2015 Volume 3, Issue 10
The Next Big Thing!
As was mentioned in the January issue, Pitney Bowes is hard at work on a next generation raster/grid analysis tool. This sort of capability is not new to the MapInfo product line. You may be aware of predecessors such as Vertical Mapper and Engage 3D. Also, our successful Discover product, used in mining and exploration companies around the globe, takes advantage of raster grid data visualisation and processing.

Now it is time to introduce you all to MapInfo Pro Raster, a next generation add-on for the 64 bit version of MapInfo Pro. Check out the “64 bits article” and the raster analysis overview appearing in this issue!

Thanks to all of you who filled in the survey in the issue last month. I’m still collecting responses, here is the link again, if you have not filled it in yet.

As always, please forward this to any MapInfo Pro users who might benefit from learning more about the software.

Version numbering the next MapInfo Pro release!

Those with sharp eyes may have noticed the Next Releases section (see the column to the right) indicates MapInfo Pro v15.0 due out later this year. We are skipping both the “unlucky” numbers 13 (mostly in Europe and the Western Hemisphere) and the even more ominous unlucky number 14 in some Eastern cultures. While I’m not a believer in superstition I don’t mind a little serendipity – we are now releasing MapInfo Pro v15.0 in the year 2015! - Tom Probert
